Of these, soluble salts are the most prevalent in environmental samples. They are formed by the reaction of metallic tin with various acids. Soluble salts account for approximately 95% of all tin in the environment. Other sources include industrial wastes (e.g., batteries), discarded electronic products (televisions, radios), and agricultural pesticides.
