When it came to determining months, lunar calendars may have been correct. However, it is somewhat incorrect when it comes to the number of days in a year. A lunar year has 354 days. As a result, if you utilized an exact lunar calendar, you would lose 11 days every year in comparison to the widely used Gregorian Calendar.
Furthermore, since the moon's orbit of the Earth varies due to gravitational forces from other objects, such as the Sun and Earth, the phase of the moon will vary from month to month, season to season, and even day to day. For this reason, the dates set by the lunar calendar could not be relied upon for more than about one year at a time.
However, since the lunar year is about 29 days shorter than the solar year, this problem was overcome by counting back about five or six months at a time. This could only be done accurately with the help of another source of error: the equinoxes. The lunar equinoxes occur when the moon is exactly half-full; the solar equinoxes occur when the sun is directly over the equator. Since the phases of the moon affect when these events happen, each year the date of the lunar equinox would change.
Lunar astronomers needed to account for these errors when predicting eclipses. If the year were close to being perfect, there would be no need for any adjustments.
A lunar calendar is usually based on the moon's 29.53-day synodic orbit around Earth. The year is then split into 12 lunar months, for a total of 354 days every year, or about 11 days fewer than the time it takes the Earth to complete one full cycle around the sun: 365 days. The lunar year is important because it is the basis for calculating the dates of various religious events throughout the year. For example, the birthdays of Jesus and Mohammed were both observed as holy days during their respective months in the lunar calendar.
This is due to the Earth's 365-day orbit around the sun. The lunar calendar would be around a month behind the solar Gregorian calendar after three years. Using this metric, lunar calendars are 10 times more accurate than the Gregorian Calendar.

Lunar eclipses are when the Earth's shadow falls on the moon. Only about half of the moon is covered by the shadow. The other half is in sunlight. When there is a lunar eclipse, it is often said that the Moon has gone "dark". In fact, only the area within the path of the shadow is going dark - any point on the moon is always illuminated by sunlight. But because the part of the moon not covered by the shadow is also reflecting light from the sun back towards earth, more of it reaches our eyes and this gives the impression that the whole moon is obscured.
Lunar eclipses can only happen when the Moon is fully lit by the Sun. So if it's night when this happens then nothing will be visible from earth apart from a partial eclipse. If it's day then everyone will see a change in the way that the moon looks.
A solar year (the time it takes Earth to orbit the sun) lasts approximately 365 days, but a lunar year (the time it takes the moon to complete 12 full cycles) lasts around 354 days. Because of this difference, a solely lunar calendar, such as the Islamic, or Hijri, calendar, does not remain in sync with the seasons. Instead, the Islamic calendar is based on the accurate observation that the first day of spring always falls on the morning after New Year's Day.

The Islamic lunar calendar has a year that is always 12 months long, hence the months are not tied to the seasons and drift by 11 to 12 days each solar year. Every 33 Islamic years, the lunar calendar returns to its original position in regard to the solar year. Thus the average interval between two consecutive full moons is about 30.5 days.
The Islamic month has 29 or 30 days. Sometimes there are only 28 days in a month, but this happens only when a day is made up of periods of sunlight and darkness in reverse order. This is called "omitting the prayers" because it is important not to forget them. It is recommended that you say something like "Om Allah, I have omitted my prayer" and make an effort to remember what you did yesterday. If you were able to pray that day, then it doesn't matter whether there were 28 or 29 days in the month.
