To catch him, you must first capture Laios Soulsilver or Laios Heartgold, after which you must offer Kurt a yellow Apricorn and he will give you a moon ball. To capture a soul, at least one empty soul gem large enough to store that soul must be present in the inventory. Cast the Soul Trap spell on the target or assault it with a Soul Trap-enchanted weapon, then slaughter it before the effect expires. If you use a weapon enchanted with the trap component and kill the creature within the allotted time, it will also set loose any trapped souls.
You can also collect souls while you're in combat if there are any available bodies. If you see someone dying near you, you can use their soul to trap another soul, increasing your maximum capacity by one. Trapping a soul gives you 10xp.
At the end of each battle, you have a chance to find a number of treasure chests located throughout the battlefield. Opening these chests will yield items such as potions, armor, weapons, and shields that may help you in future battles.
Chests contain items that can only be used once before they break or disappear. If a chest contains an item that could be used to trap more souls, you should open it to increase your capacity.
As you travel around Skyrim, you will come across other ways to gain souls. Certain creatures, called "Dark Souls", will give you gold if you kill them. Dark Souls cannot be harmed by normal weapons so you will need magic to defeat them.
Unfortunately, in Soul Silver, the only method to obtain a lucky egg is to use a thief on Chansey. Chansey, who may be seen on Route 15, is likewise an uncommon sighting. However, if you happen to see one, strike it down with your favorite attack!

Magmar can be found in both the Safari Zone and the Burned Tower in Pokemon Soul Silver. He is uncommon in both places, with a 10% chance of encountering him in the Safari Zone and a 5% chance of encountering him in the Burned Tower.
If you encounter him in the Safari Zone, he will give you a TM for Magneton if you have not already received one. If you have a Magneton, he will battle it at the end of his description. In the Burned Tower, he will attack you with Fire Punch if you have not obtained any type-neutral attacks yet.
Also worth mentioning is that if you talk to him after you have defeated Groudon or Kyogre, he will offer to teach you their moves if you ask nicely. However, this will not increase your chances of finding them otherwise.
Overall, Magmar is useful for teaching new moves to your team if you do not have any types covered by other members. It is also important to note that if you fail to catch him when you first go into the Safari Zone or the Burned Tower, he will disappear forever. So make sure you catch him if you want to use his TM later on!
