Although attaining enlightenment is not an easy feat, you may get a bit closer to it every day. Being in the present moment, developing your understanding of life and the world around you, and meditation to extend your consciousness are all ways to become enlightened.
The way people become enlightened now is by using their minds. No matter how simple or complex your lifestyle may be, if you want to evolve yourself and reach higher states of awareness then thinking is very important. Learning how to meditate and stay in the here and now is also crucial because without doing either one of these things it's impossible to go any further.
People become enlightened because it's in their best interest to do so. Why would anyone want to stop living life fully? Because at some point we realize that we can't solve our problems with more violence, greed, and hatred. We see that there is something else that needs to be done and that it starts with us. Only when we discover this new way of being do we become enlightened.
Because our current level of consciousness is so far from perfection in unity with God, enlightenment is so difficult. The enlightened have liberated themselves from the laws of karma and rebirth. They are not free from death, but they are not bound by it either. Enlightenment is a complete liberation - from desire, anger, fear and ignorance.
Enlightenment is not something you achieve. It is already yours. You are enlightened just by being conscious. From moment to moment, you are either liberating yourself or you are serving others. There is no middle ground in enlightenment society. If someone tells you that you aren't enlightened yet, then they are trying to keep you enslaved.
Even though enlightenment is already here and now, we still want more. We want to become gods. We struggle against our own nature because we are conditioned by our past actions. We need to be free from these conditions, and the only way to do that is through meditation. Meditation makes you immune to future effects of your actions and removes the memory trace of your past deeds.
At the end of time, all souls will come back to earth to help humanity reach enlightenment. Earth will again be covered in darkness until each soul has contributed enough good karma to escape reincarnation. At this point, the soul is freed forever from any further existence and can enter infinity.
The act of being enlightened Living in the condition of illumination means living in spiritual enlightenment. The Enlightenment was an 18th-century intellectual movement marked by a confidence in the power of human reason and reforms in political, religious, and educational ideology. Enlighhtment involves a total re-visioning of one's view of reality and oneself. One begins with imperfect eyes that are opened by experience to see objects as they are. Then one realizes that one's views about these objects were also false and so sets them aside completely in favor of truth as it is.
Enlightenment has been called "the highest goal for humanity" because it leads to freedom, happiness, and wisdom. It is said to be able to cure diseases, stop wars, and bring about other miracles. But enlightenment is not achieved by wishing for it or striving after it. Rather, it is a natural by-product of self-corrective evolution designed to preserve the life force or soul (atman).
When someone says he or she is "enlightened," what is meant is that they live their life according to the principles of enlightenment, have liberated themselves from the chains of egoism and delusion. They no longer follow the fluctuations of mental states, feelings, and thoughts which constitute suffering (dukkha). Instead, they maintain a constant awareness of reality as it is without attachment or aversion.
However, enlightenment is a journey, not a destination. And self-realization is the starting point or entrance to this journey. The final worth of enlightenment is determined by the person. Obtaining enlightenment and then doing nothing with it will not go you very far.
The only way to find out if this path is for you is to walk it. As you learn more about yourself, your journey will lead you toward greater understanding and awareness. This is how everyone progresses on the path to enlightenment.
When you reach the end of the path, you will have realized enlightenment/Buddha nature/God consciousness. Only you can decide what to do with this knowledge and experience. Some people choose to keep their realization private and never speak of it again, while others want to share its teachings with the world.
Self-realization is one of many paths that lead to enlightenment. It is not the only path nor is it the most difficult one to follow. But because it is our path, we know it better than anyone else. So unless you are ready to face your fears and leave home, family, friends, and career behind, then this path is not for you.
Once you realize your true nature, you will no longer seek external fulfillment through possessions, relationships, or achievements. You will see that these things are limited and they cannot satisfy your deep need for happiness.
When you first meet an enlightened person, you will not notice that he or she is enlightened since his or her look will be similar to the rest of the individuals surrounding him or her. You must spend some time with him or her. And his/her presence will gradually make you understand how terrific he/she is. An example is Buddha. When I first met him, he was just a middle-aged man with many scars on his body who used to sleep under trees because there were no rooms in the monastery where he lived. But soon after we met, I realized that something extraordinary had happened to this man. He had discovered the truth about life and love, and he was trying to share this knowledge with all of us sinners. So, yes, enlightenment changes people.
Enlightenment makes people beautiful from outside but inside they are still the same as everyone else. It doesn't change people; it reveals them to themselves. What's important is what people do with this information once they know it. That's what matters.
People usually say that enlightenment is like knowing the answer to all questions or having infinite wisdom, but that's not right. The truth is that nobody can really know anything except perhaps for himself or herself. We can guess at things through experience but we will never truly know anything for sure. That's why meditation is so important.
